SNAP is seeking a qualified individual for an Affordable Housing Porter to join our growing team.

Review of applications will begin on May 29, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled.

Starting salary for this position is $17.24-$19.39 per hour DOE

Full range is $17.24-$27.13 per hour

Position Summary: Provide janitorial and landscaping support for 200 units of Affordable Housing.  The Affordable Housing Porter will be primarily responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of the portfolio's curb appeal.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Wipes down and sanitizes surfaces, cleans (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc.) and supplies designated building.
  2. Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects on a quarterly basis.
  3. Notify management of deficiencies occurring or needs for repairs.
  4. Conduct post construction cleaning of units as required.
  5. Provide basic landscaping services to include mowing, trimming, and shoveling of walkway’s during winter snow conditions as required for each property.
  6. Implements portfolio sprinklers and watering schedule.
  7. Stock and maintain supply rooms.
  8. Follow all health and safety regulations.
  9. Takes out the trash, recycling, and empties pet waste receptacles.
  10. Completes assigned projects and performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
  11. Works with coworkers and volunteers to promote a positive, respectful, and productive working environment, while protecting client confidentiality and dignity.
  12. Within the context of the stated principal job duties, serves as ambassador of SNAP’s mission and values.
  13. Provides excellent customer service at all times as well as helps to grow the customer service culture within the agency.

Qualifications

Requirements:

                Education and Experience

  • Required: 1 years of experience in any related field
  • Preferred: High School or equivalent; 1 year of experience specifically in janitorial and landscaping work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income and vulnerable people, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information.
  • Ability to safely use construction and insulation tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on effectively working in a team environment and with a diverse population.

Training and Certifications

  • Valid drivers license and good driving record
  • Other training as warranted for the program (training provided)

Work Environment/Physical Activities:

This position requires working in seasonal heat and cold. Must be able to safely perform physical aspects of the job including lifting up to 85 pounds, pulling, transporting, handling equipment and materials, crawling, and using step ladders. Frequently works in confined spaces, such as beneath floors and in attics and crawl spaces. May require working on rooftops and other potentially hazardous areas. May be exposed to dusty, wet, muddy, poorly ventilated and occasionally unsanitary environments. May be exposed to fumes and substances including paint, solvents, and other materials.
