Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family style meals and snacks for children and staff
  • Follow cycle menus, considering state and federal nutritional requirements for children including food preferences/allergies
  • Keep accurate inventory of food and supplies
  • Responsible for ordering food and supplies as needed
  • Maintain positive supportive relationships with center staff, children, parents, and regulatory officials
  • Prepare and distribute breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks
  • Maintain CACFP forms and records (if applicable)
  • Keep kitchen and related work areas safe and clean
  • Post and follow approved menus, making and posting approved nutritionally sound substitutions as required
  • Prepare and serve food in amounts based on CACFP serving requirements. Serves food in appropriate containers at appropriate temperatures and amounts to children and staff daily
  • Maintain kitchen in safe and sanitary condition
  • Supports family style food service and self-serve snacks

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

  • Requires daily standing, sitting, bending and stooping (setting will be limited to about 5% of your day)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work overtime and odd schedules (flexibility is important)

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge and experience with the CACFP preferred
  • Health Department Kitchen Manager Certification
