Associate Director of Advancement

 

Tower Hill School is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Associate Director of Advancement to start in January 2025. This position reports directly to the Director of Advancement, collaborating closely on the development of major and capital gift strategies and the leadership of the advancement program as it builds a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the School and community. The Associate Director of Advancement is responsible for the development and implementation of The Hiller Fund (the school’s annual fund) strategy, including direct leadership solicitation of all constituencies as well as related cultivation and stewardship activities that align with the School’s mission and strategic vision.

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Advancement on strategy and program implementation to ensure the success of Tower Hill’s leadership giving and annual giving programs.
  • Develop and execute innovative fundraising strategies to advance The Hiller Fund and expand and diversify the donor pool.
  • Actively manage a portfolio of leadership donors and prospects from all constituencies and cultivate relationships with parents, alumni and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute innovative cultivation and stewardship activities in alignment with the strategic direction and goals of the School.
  • Cultivate a well-defined culture of philanthropy across the school’s constituencies, including the internal stakeholder group - faculty and staff. 
  • Manage at least one member of the Advancement team, mentoring and coaching this individual toward further success and professional growth.
  • Operate in a Chief of Staff position within the Advancement Office, in close concert with the Director of Advancement, assigning and managing workflow and delegation to the team and developing systems to enhance the team’s collective efficacy.
  • Co-present advancement strategies at quarterly meetings of the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees
  • Develop and maintain data methods within the office, ensuring sophistication and deliberation in managing and making decisions regarding events, solicitation, stewardship, and relationship management.
  • Work alongside the Director of Alumni Relations to build a strong alumni program and well defined strategy and engagement plans for alumni.  
  • Integrate alumni prospects into annual giving and major gifts strategies. 
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on annual giving and donor engagement to monitor progress, identify areas of opportunity, and use for data driven decisions and for board and donor reports.
  • Maintain close and highly collaborative relationships with members of the Advancement Team and the THS faculty and staff.
  • Identify, cultivate, recruit, and develop fundraising volunteers.
  • With a team spirit, undertake other professional duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

 

  • 5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably, but not limited to, work in development at an independent school or in higher education
  • Demonstrable success in frontline fundraising, identifying, cultivating, securing gifts from, and subsequently stewarding donors 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Knowledge of annual giving, major gifts, special events, foundation giving and donor relations 
  • Major gifts solicitation and capital campaign experience 
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence, detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment 
  • Experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT 
  • Positive attitude, relationship-building skills, a high-level of self-motivation, and a strong, responsible work ethic 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings as necessary
