Position Overview 

The Recreation Programs Manager is responsible for the management and staffing of the in-house recreation player development opportunities that MYS offers. The primary goal is to create a high-quality and safe recreational experience for our members in the U3-U10 age groups. This position requires a consistent on the field presence during the fall and spring seasons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Recreation Director to establish a vision and goals for the recreational program.
  • Prepare an end-of-program summary, highlighting program successes, challenges, suggested improvements, and staff evaluations.
  • Design and implement an appropriate curriculum for U3-U7 programs.
  • Support and assist the U8 to U10 age group supervisor. 
  • Communicate all equipment requirements to the Recreation Director in advance of each season.
  • Recruit and supervise a diverse group of recreational trainers in accordance with program budget restrictions prior to the program start date.
  • Ensure that all staff have completed employment paperwork prior to scheduling assignments.
  • Review and approve employee time sheets for Finance Manager.
  • Supervise and support the Recreational Trainers and Volunteer Coaches in creating a positive and safe environment for all players and families.
  • Support applicable MYS policies and processes.
  • Participate as needed in MYS and youth soccer activities, including meetings, seminars, outreach programs, conventions, conferences, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Director.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  •  Ability to manage, develop, and motivate soccer coaching staff.
  • Must hold a USSF or USC Coaching license and have a minimum of seven years of coaching experience.
  •  A combination of education and playing/coaching experience may substitute for specific licensing and experience requirements.
  • Temporary waiver of licensing requirements for up to one year is possible for coaches actively working towards licensure.

 

Work Conditions

  • Outdoor work throughout the year.
  • Flexible work schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays for training, games, and meetings.
  • Own transportation required for games, training, tournaments, and occasional meetings.
  • Must have personal communication devices (e.g., mobile phone, computer, etc.)
