Job Description: Payroll Specialist/HR Generalist

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable Payroll Specialist/HR Generalist to support daily HR operations, payroll processing, and employee lifecycle tasks. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll functions, benefits administration, onboarding, terminations, and ensuring HR compliance with federal and state laws. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle sensitive information with discretion, and be comfortable wearing multiple hats.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration:
- Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain employee payroll records, including garnishments, direct deposits, and W-4s
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws
- Set up and maintain state tax withholding and unemployment insurance accounts for new jurisdictions
- Manage payroll tax filings and coordinate with third-party providers as needed
HR Operations:
- Complete new hire onboarding, including background checks, I-9 verification, and benefits enrollment
- Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting jobs, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews
- Maintain personnel records in compliance with legal requirements and company policies
- Support the benefits administration process, including open enrollment, QLE changes, and employee questions
- Coordinate offboarding, including final pay, exit interviews, and benefits termination
- Support annual audits (e.g., workers’ comp, 401k, EEO-1) by providing accurate data and reports
Compliance & Employee Support:
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices
- Track and manage leave of absence cases (FMLA, ADA, etc.)
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information
- Respond to employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and general HR policies
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support overall success of the HR and payroll functions
