LOCATION: History/Archaeology ; Nespelem, Washington
Basic Functions: This is an Exempt training position designed to meet expectations for Section 8 of the Employee Policy Manual for Leadership and Management Training (Succession Planning with a one-year training period). Incumbent is responsible for administration, fiscal management, contract oversight, and supervision of the History & Archaeology Department. Duties include implementing program goals and objectives; preparation and oversight of budgets – up to 80 annually. Oversight and/or supervision of all activities, grants, and contracts of the Department. This position functions as the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) for Cultural Resource Management (CRM) projects on and off the reservation. Oversee the curation of cultural materials; administer any funding for historic preservation and Cultural Resource Management issues; identify and nominate eligible properties to the National Register of Historic Places and Colville Tribal Register; and provide management and policy assistance on natural resource/cultural issues to tribal divisions, Administration and the Colville Business Council. Oversees the operation of the Colville Tribal Museum and the Ft. Okanogan Interpretive Center, Plant Team, Archaeologists, Tribal Archaeological Repository, and Traditional Cultural studies. Coordinates all Section 106 (36 CFR Part 800) and NAGPRA issues.
