Job Description:
The Medical Waste Technician performs a variety of responsibilities inherent to the collection, transport, packaging, disposal and/or destruction of multiple waste streams in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Removes waste products from designated collection points throughout the Center.
- Properly segregates waste and transports to designated areas for destruction, disposal or shipment.
- Mechanically operates the trash compactor and the cardboard compactor.
- Cleans equipment and notifies supervisor of equipment or other items needing repair.
- Properly packages, labels and prepares medical waste for removal from the Center as required by state and federal regulations.
- Maintains all collection sites in a sanitary manner minimizing the risk for biological contamination.
- Performs work in accordance with established quality standards.
