Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Head of School, the nursing team coordinates all aspects of health services at Thayer in cooperation with the Director of Counseling, health education faculty, and consulting health services partners.  

 

Essential Functions

  • Engage with all aspects of the Thayer student health services with a focus on high-quality care and excellent communication with students, families, and school staff.

  • Assist with the collection and review of student health information, including documentation of the annual physical exam (from the primary care provider) and annual health updates completed by parents. 

  • Provide care coordination for students with chronic health issues and urgent care needs, working collaboratively with the nursing team. 

  • Assists in the development of a student’s Individual Healthcare Plan (IHP), as necessary.

  • Work with students, their families, and staff to ensure the needs of each student are identified and met.

  • Participate in any necessary on-call systems for nursing staff

  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Qualifications and Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 

  • CPR certification

  • Five years of experience working in the area of school health, developmental adolescents/pediatrics, Nursing preferred

 Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move 10 lbs. and occasionally lift/move 30 lbs.

  • Specific vision abilities include close vision.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms.
