Duties and Responsibilities 
The Production & Media Specialist will use skills in troubleshooting and problem-solving to support the technology needs at all Grace Chapel campuses, Sanctuaries, Large Group rooms, classrooms, and central office buildings, manage and oversee the tech volunteers for events and services, as well as provide proactive tech support for Grace Chapel, understanding the needs and technical options necessary to enhance the worship experience through technology. The Production & Media Specialist will work closely with the Director of Media & Technology to ensure that all technology needs are being met for services, rehearsals, KidsTown events, Student Ministry events, and special events or rentals that happen at any Grace Chapel campus. The Production & Media Specialist will provide mentorship, coaching and training to volunteers. The successful candidate will have a background in A/V technology. Critical to this position’s success is a demonstrated desire to learn new skills and technologies as the church evolves and grows.  

The Production & Media Specialist will assist the Director of Media & Technology in the process of livestreaming the Sunday Worship Experience and any other special worship services, preparing any graphics, videos, song lyrics coordinating with the Worship team, and any other audio/visual elements necessary.  

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • In tandem with the Director of Media & Technology, use existing guidelines to oversee the broadcasted livestream of the Sunday Worship Experience, including live audio, video production, lyric and text overlays, slide decks, etc. 

  • Understand and troubleshoot equipment relating to the broadcast, including Blackmagic video distribution, conversion, video switching, camera control, and video production equipment, to provide smooth transitions between worship segments and produce a modern, attractive, and disruption-free livestream of the Sunday Worship Experience.  

  • In tandem with the Director of Media & Technology, use existing guidelines to oversee the in-person Sunday Worship Experience, including live audio, video production, lyric and media display, lighting, backline, and stage design. 

  • In tandem with the Director of Media & Technology, lead event production for all programs and events, including Sunday morning services, mid-week rehearsals, various workshops, classes, rentals, staff meetings, and weekly chapel.   

  • Provide professional, excellent front-of-house operation for events, including operation of and training of others on ProPresenter, PowerPoint, Audio, Lighting, Broadcast, and livestream technology. 

  • Recruit, train, oversee, and organize volunteers and assisting staff into production teams. 

  • Assign and schedule all volunteer teams.  

  • Collaborates directly with the LEX Team on planning and executing Tech needs for events and services. 

  • Operates, maintains and safeguards the technical assets of the church, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, video and lighting systems, and communications equipment. 

  • Maintains inventory of equipment and requests any specialized equipment needed. 

  • Creates, edits and distributes all Sunday slides for all campuses 

  • Attends technical rehearsals, in order to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of the services. 

  • Manage recording, streaming, asset management, and distribution of video for events as needed 

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and Tech policies. 

  • Edit occasional videos other than worship and upload to church’s social media sites, as requested (i.e. a recorded adult education workshop, cleaned up at the ends).. 

  • Archive backups of service videos on local and/or online storage sites. 

Qualifications

A candidate for Production & Media Specialist should have the following prerequisites and qualifications: 

  • Leadership  

  • Will have experience installing, configuring, documenting, testing, and implementing new applications and systems.   

  • Demonstrates strong AV Technical Skills.  

  • Ability to attract, lead, train and engage volunteers in a meaningful way. 

  • Problem-solver attitude; servant-minded; ability to multi-task and set priorities cheerfully; thrives in fast-paced environment; comfortable in ambiguity, being able to bring order from chaos; go-getter mindset that creates solutions when faced with problems. 

 

  • Communication and Problem-solving 

  • Strong research, communication and problem-solving skills are crucial in this role.  

 

  • Technical 

  • Upgrading, troubleshooting, and implementing new hardware and software in tandem with the Director of Media & Technology. 

 

  • Project Management 

  • Will work in a project team environment.  

  • Strongly developed organizational and time management skills are important to move a project from beginning to completion.  

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks. 

 

 

Education and Training Requirements: 

  • Associate Degree in audiovisual technology or related field, or equivalent experience 

  • Has a passion for our mission and a strong desire to impact the growth of an effective nonprofit organization 

  • Experience operating audio, video, lighting, monitoring, live broadcast, and presentation related systems (PowerPoint, ProPresenter, Windows OS, Mac OS, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Planning Center, Microsoft Teams, etc.) 

  • Experience in installation and operation of analog and digital audio systems. 

  • Experience in maintenance, setup, and operation of portable audio systems for special events 

  • Experience in lighting system operation 

  • Comfortable assisting staff with solutions for general A/V issues 

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills 

  • Strong time management skills including the ability to multi-task on various projects and priorities under fixed schedules and in high-pressure situations 

  • Experience working in a large church or campus-based church setting, preferred 

  • Familiarity with all levels of video production (pre-production, live production, post-production, camera operation, editing, sound design, color correction) a plus
