Position Summary 
 

Grace Chapel is seeking a talented, experienced worship leader, ready to make a next step in their pastoral ministry career. This position will be the primary worship leader for Sunday morning services, working collaboratively with other campus worship leaders across our 5 campus’s to bring excellence to our Sunday morning worship music.  

 

As the Worship Leader this person will assist in the leadership of the campus congregation alongside the Campus Pastor, helping church members and guests to develop rich, meaningful relationships with each other as we strive to discover life with God for the good of the world. This person will lead the congregation in worship each week alongside a talented group of volunteer musicians. 

 

This is a Part-Time, 20 hour position. Full Time work may be available in combination with other pastoral and project related work.  

 

This position has the following responsibilities: 

 

Worship Leader Job Duties 

The ‘win’ for this position is to create an environment and experience in which people can discover life with God for the good of the world.  

Our contemporary service lasts approximately 65 minutes and includes the following elements: 

  • Music - generally four songs that reflect musical styles most like Maverick City, Elevation, Bethel, or Phil Wickham, and Cody Carnes, while still incorporating modern renditions of ancient hymns to engage both heart and mind in worship.  

  • Engagement - Welcome, Announcements, Offering, Time of Prayer 

  • Message 

  • Responsive Moment 

  • Sending / Benediction 

Responsibilities: 

  • Casting vision for contemporary worship at the Watertown campus, consistent with the overall vision for Worship and Arts Ministry at Grace. 

  • Recruiting, training, scheduling and leading a healthy volunteer worship team that reflects our intergenerational, multiethnic congregation. 

  • Updating Planning Center for all aspects of the worship service. Scheduling and assigning volunteers in advance. Planning music to align with the sermon series themes and weekly messages. 

  • Regularly leading the Sunday contemporary worship service and its rehearsal, while also developing other team members to participate and lead worship. 

  • Assisting with music for special events and services as needed 

Qualifications

Skills and qualifications 
A candidate for this position should have the following prerequisites and qualifications: 

  • Leader: A gifted and energetic team-builder and an inspirational leader who can cast a clear and compelling vision and who will equip people to find, develop, and act on their God-given calling. 

  • Communicator: An individual with the ability to communicate effectively in large and small group settings. 

  • DNA Carrier: An individual who resonates with the long-standing vision and values of Grace Chapel and who is passionate about extending its kingdom impact in the community 

  • Champion of Diversity: An individual who values the diversity that God has brought to Grace Chapel and will work to increase it. 

 

Required education and training requirements 

  • Bachelors Degree preferred 

  • Three to five years of worship leading experience  

  • A gifted vocalist and/or instrumentalist (preferably guitar or piano) who is capable of leading worship and developing volunteers 

  • A capable developer of musicians, vocalists and teams  

  • Has an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 

  • Practices personal spiritual disciplines and leads with humility, character, and love. 

  • Able to clearly communicate and embrace Grace Chapel Church's mission, vision, values and strategy. 

  • Experience leading volunteer teams, developing and equip leaders 

  • Has a willing spirit to help support each ministry within Grace Chapel Church to the best of their ability.  

  • Gifted in worship leading as well as project management, organizational and administrative skills.  

  • A team player who cares more about the church’s mission than their own personal success 

  • Relational skills and the ability to develop community life.  

  • A self-motivated leader, capable of managing self and others, and effective in developing and implementing church systems 

  • Have a natural ability to connect quickly with people, and encourage them to join in. 

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, challenging environment with multiple competing priorities; yet offers loads of fun while winning one more for Christ. 

  • Strong time management skills including the ability to multi-task on various projects and priorities under fixed schedules and in pressure situations. 

  • Preference for working in a high-level collaborative environment promoting teamwork.
