Description

As the Associate Campus Pastor, this person will assist in the leadership of the campus congregation alongside the Campus Pastor, helping church members and guests to develop rich, meaningful relationships with each other as we strive to discover life with God for the good of the world. This person will work directly with various groups within the assigned Campus to create opportunities for connection, cohesion, and irresistible environments for people to engage with Grace Chapel.

This is a Part-Time position that may become full time when combined with another available part time position.

The Associate Campus Pastor will shepherd and lead members of the congregation in a variety of ways, such as  developing group life, managing the connections process and volunteer team, and coordinating the Community Engagement initiatives for your assigned campus. This position may also act as a pastoral point person for specific groups of people, such as Young Adults, Women’s Groups, or Men’s Groups, and/or Senior Adults.   

Associate Campus Pastor Job Duties: 

  • In coordination with the Campus Pastor, develop relationships with existing group leaders, identify, equip, coach and provide care to small group leaders 

  • Responsible for the execution of the Connections Process at assigned campus: 

  • Ownership of the Connections Process on your campus and connections volunteers including Connection Coaches, Ushers, Greeters, etc  

  • Ensure that new comers are being followed up with in accordance with the connections process and are being incorporated into the life of the church.  

  • Implement a smooth transition process that allows new comers to become fully engaged participants within the Grace community.  

  • Report out on a regular basis the progress of meeting our connections goals 

  • Connect with Pastor of Connections on a regular basis to implement best practices 

  • Responsible for the execution of Community Engagement 

  • Mobilize people to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving and sharing their gifts in ministry. 

  • Build something meaningful by enthusiastically recruiting and mentoring a volunteer leadership team to help with all areas of Community Engagement.  

  • Connect and build cooperative and mutually beneficial relationships between Grace and outside agencies or ministries related to foster care, poverty, new immigrants, multicultural populations, etc.  

  • Share your ideas for bringing people together through outreach and social activities in the community.  

  • Nurture understanding, appreciation and cooperation between various communities within the congregation.  

  • Champion and Partner with other associate campus pastors and team lead on opportunities for the congregation to engage across campus’ and build relationships with our neighbors, such as Spring Serve, or with Boston Project, DCF, or with Refugees. 

  • Report out on a regular basis the progress of meeting our Community Engagement Goals 

  • Core responsibilities may vary based on the needs for each campus and/or the goals for the year. 

  • As a member of the camps staff team, fully engage in worship, small groups and events as a part of the assigned campus  

  • Plan and oversee implementation of opportunities for the congregation to develop stronger relationships within the Grace Chapel community. 

  • Nurture understanding, appreciation and cooperation between various communities within the congregation. 

  • Provide pastoral care in collaboration with the Campus Pastor and Pastor of Care and Support, as needed  

  • Full fill the duties of the dual role for which you are assigned, if applicable (ex. Worship, Student Ministry, Campus Admin, etc)  

Qualifications

Skills and qualifications 
A candidate for this position should have the following prerequisites and qualifications: 

  • Leader: A gifted and energetic team-builder and an inspirational leader who can cast a clear and compelling vision and who will equip people to find, develop, and act on their God-given calling. 

  • Pastor/Shepherd: A pastor who longs to embrace, assimilate, and care for those believers and seekers whom God will bring to both campuses. 

  • Communicator: An individual with the ability to preach, teach and communicate effectively in large and small group settings. 

  • Self-starter: Someone who is entrepreneurial and internally driven to achieve the mission God is laying out for us and able to manage her/himself accordingly.  Willing to build something new while holding onto the benefits of being part of the larger Grace Chapel community. 

  • DNA Carrier: An individual who resonates with the long-standing vision and values of Grace Chapel and who is passionate about extending its kingdom impact in Lexington and via a new online campus. 

  • Theological Depth: A continuous learner with a strong theological foundation and biblical understanding that enables him or her to function with effectiveness and discernment. Advanced theological degree preferred. 

  • Champion of Diversity: An individual who values the diversity that God has brought to Grace Chapel and will work to increase it. 

 

Required education and training requirements 

  • Hold at least a Masters in Divinity, Theology, or other related discipline. Other degrees will be considered in conjunction with related, applicable work experience 

  • Must have experience leading worship in a contemporary worship setting.

  • Has an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 

  • Practices personal spiritual disciplines and leads with humility, character, and love. 

  • Able to clearly communicate and embrace Grace Chapel Church's mission, vision, values and strategy. 

  • Experience leading volunteer teams, developing and equip leaders 

  • Has a willing spirit to help support each ministry within Grace Chapel Church to the best of their ability.  

  • Gifted in pastoring, teaching or worship leading as well as project management, organizational and administrative skills.  

  • A team player who cares more about the church’s mission than their own personal success 

  • Relational skills and the ability to develop community life.  

  • A self-motivated leader, capable of managing self and others, and effective in developing and implementing church systems 

  • Have a natural ability to connect quickly with people, and encourage them to join in. 

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, challenging environment with multiple competing priorities; yet offers loads of fun while winning one more for Christ. 

  • Strong time management skills including the ability to multi-task on various projects and priorities under fixed schedules and in pressure situations. 

  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize 

  • Preference for working in a high-level collaborative environment promoting teamwork.
