KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Jr. High Ministries will establish a clear vision, spiritual leadership, and annual ministry goals for 6th- 8th grade.  This person will build and develop relationships with parents, volunteers, and students and create a ministry environment that gives glory to God by building students who are disciples across the street and around the world.  Key responsibilities for the Director of Jr. High Ministries are: 

  • Recruit, organize and mobilize volunteers and students to carry out ministry goals through a " Bring, Stir, Equip, Send" approach to ministry.
  • Assess the ministry's current needs; be informed and knowledgeable of trends and culture as they relate to students; and develop goals regularly based on church-wide mission and priorities.
  • Be one of the teacher/preachers for Jr. High ministry while ensuring that biblical teaching is provided on days when unavailable.
  • Provide visionary direction alongside Sr. Director of Next Generation Ministry for NXT Junior High as well as NXT High School ensuring consistency between ministry teaching and ministry approaches.
  • Oversee the yearly programming of Foundations as well as the annual Foundations trip to Israel each July. 
  • Oversee and provide direction for all NXT Student retreats.
  • Encourage and promote active involvement in service and ministries of the larger church body.
  • Give leadership to the student global and local missions outreach (student specific and all church missions trips, etc.).
  • Develop a prayer strategy for both students and parents that encourages and involves prayer as a major component of ministry.
  • Be available for counseling and other "student contact" ministry.
  • Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, counseling and other pastoral functions as requested.
  • Develop the annual budget in consultation with the Director of Finance.
  • Grow the student's ministry in spiritual depth and maturity and numerically by reaching more students with the gospel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL AND SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience required: 3-5 years’ experience in a student ministry leadership role.
  • License/Ordination: Ability to become licensed or ordained by Grace Church.
  • Ability to teach and instruct based on a thorough knowledge of the Word of God.
  • Ability to lead the Jr. High ministry students in a way that is honoring and glorifying to God.
  • Successful history of connecting with, teaching and discipling kids, students and parents.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently as well as drive teams.
  • Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • Has a commitment to personal and active participation in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20).
  • Exhibits a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations.
  • Consistent attendance and participation in Grace Church and involvement in the life of the church.
