Position: Electrochemist Scientist
Status: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt
Reports to: Testing and Development Manager
Position Summary: Electrochemist Scientist is responsible for developing targeted electrochemical methods and techniques for assessing materials, electrolyzer cells, and stacks to improve and advance electrolyzer performance and durability.
This is an opportunity to be very hands-on in a startup R&D lab environment and collaborate with a diverse team of talented and passionate engineers and scientists with a common goal of decarbonizing heavy industry.
Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, in-person position. Days and hours of the work are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Design and execute tests to identify methods to improve electrolyzer performance and durability and gain fundamental understanding of underlying mechanisms.
- Design new materials and optimize existing materials and configurations.
- Evaluate electrolyzer cell and stack performance and diagnostic data.
- Report analysis and conclusions to team members and leadership.
- Develop targeted test protocols focused on components and material evaluation along with performance specifications and validation criteria.
- Provide guidance on technical direction and feedback for R&D programs.
- Drive standard tools and processes for use across Development and Testing teams.
- Mentor and train less senior team members.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technical and scientific advancements in your field.
