JOB SUMMARY

The Division of Business, Leadership and Communication at Columbia College seeks a full-time dynamic educator to serve as a Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Business (half-time) and Director of the Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program (half-time). This unique position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the development and success of our online MBA program while also engaging in teaching and scholarly activities within the business department.

TheDivision of Business, Leadership, and Communicationserves over 300 students, offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in business administration, community and organizational leadership, communication, hospitality, accounting, and sports management. Programs are offered in day, evening, and online formats. Students are equipped for a variety of professions based on internship and research opportunities to maximize their professional preparation. The division’s strengths lie in supportive faculty and students with a commitment to developing professional acumen. Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Director of Online MBA Program (Half-Time):
    • Develop and implement strategies for the growth and enhancement of the online MBA program in alignment with the college's mission and goals.
    • Oversee all aspects of the online MBA program, including curriculum development, student recruitment and retention, faculty hiring and support, program assessment and evaluation.
    • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the online MBA program.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to faculty teaching in the online MBA program.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, workforce needs, best practices, and innovations in online education and integrate them into the program as appropriate.
    • Manage budgets and resources allocated to the online MBA program.
  2. Assistant Professor of Business (Part-Time):
    • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in business administration, with a focus on areas such as management, economics, finance, human resource management and/or entrepreneurship.
    • Teach a 12 semester hour load per semester. Summer teaching optional.
    • Develop and deliver engaging and effective instructional materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments, for both online and traditional classroom settings.
    • Update and monitor MBA curriculum and policies.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their learning and academic progress.
    • Engage in scholarly activities, such as research, publications, presentations, and participation in professional conferences, to contribute to the academic community and enhance teaching effectiveness.
    • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, including academic and career guidance, as needed.
    • Contribute to departmental and college-wide initiatives, including committee work and program development efforts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • A doctoral degree in business administration, management, or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in online program development and administration, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, preferably in both online and traditional formats.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in business education and online learning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the college.

This tenure-track (at Assistant Professor level) position entails a split in responsibilities, serving as Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Business (dependent on background and qualifications) half-time and overseeing the online MBA program half-time, with a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
