This is a full-time position under the dual supervision of the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Director of Athletics. The employee serves as the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions involved in all aspects of recruitment, admissions and enrollment of students and as the Head Softball Coach overseeing all aspects of the softball program, including the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

    

  Admissions:

  • Represent Fisher College at various on-campus and off-campus events and programs, embodying the college's spirit and values.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive prospect management plan to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Manage incoming new student applications. This includes traveling to off-campus locations, such as high school and college fairs, recruiting, interviewing, giving presentations, covering events, counseling families, interacting with guidance counselors, reading application files, and recommending admissions decisions.
  • Generate and enroll qualified prospects, ensuring enrolled students start school. Follow up with all interested students via phone, email, text, etc.
  • Assist with all campus recruitment efforts and programs, including conducting informative campus tours for prospective students and their families, while leading student employees who serve as admissions tour guides
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key contacts in secondary schools to improve recruitment efforts. Actively cultivate referral leads from instructors, current students, graduates, and employers.
  • Actively work with dropped/cancelled students to promote their return or start.
  • Attend and participate in department campus and company-wide meeting, as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Coaching:

  • Oversees all aspects of the softball program, including but not limited to: teaching and refining skills and techniques, preparation of daily practices and season plans, scheduling games and planning travel, motivating and monitoring teams’ academic success, and ordering supplies and uniforms.
  • Develops, organizes and administers a competitive NAIA intercollegiate softball program. Works in conjunction with the Associate Director of Athletics to develop the Softball schedule.
  • Attends all practices and matches, providing on-court team strategy and individual skill development.
  • Executes practice organization and implementation
  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Admissions
  • Monitors academic progress of student-athletes and develops and implements strategy for retention.
  • Adheres to all College, NAIA and CAC policies and procedures and educate student-athletes about the same.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position.

   Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • 1-2 years professional experience in admissions/recruitment
  • Three (3) or more years of full-time coaching experience at the professional, collegiate, high school or club level.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including outlook and virtual communication (email, Teams, Zoom)
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Availability to workdays, evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Presentation and Public speaking experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations
  • History of success in the areas of recruiting, player development and fostering holistic success in team members
  • Competitive experience as a former softball student-athlete at the collegiate level

 

Work Environment:

  • Nights, Weekends and holidays expected.
  • Exposed to loud noise due to the nature of collegiate athletics
  • At times, travel overnight or day travel is required
