Description

PTMW, INC., A world-class company who manufactures sheet metal enclosures is seeking a qualified candidate with electrical design and manufacturing experience.  Electrical designer shall work in a team environment to develop accurate, constructible, coordinated, drawings, schematics and bill of materials. The electrical designer will also be responsible for answering questions and providing accurate shop drawings that support the production team.  The designer will be responsible for interacting with the customers, project managers, coordinators, floor leads, engineering / standards and production directors.  

Duties: Create electrical drawings by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents.  Prepare supporting information by developing bills of material and standard electrical parts.  Comply with legal requirements by adhering to codes and regulations. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications to accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to product or efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read, comprehend and create electrical schematics, one-lines, instructions, drawings, prints, diagrams and other reports or printouts
  • Create electrical department bill of materials (BOMs) for materials needed to complete the job
  • Source new electrical parts or assemblies.
  • Help answer electrical questions

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Solid working knowledge on the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC, low voltage and control wiring systems
  • Best practices to run conduit an wire for efficiency and to code.
  • Be able to develop and design electrical schematics, control systems, BOMS
  • 2D drafting experience using AutoCAD and Dynamic blocks,
  • 3D modeling using Solid Edge, Solidworks, etc. is a plus
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with manufacturing processes experience.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrated initiative and ability to take on projects.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize tasks to meet required deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Journeyman Electrician with minimum 4 years electrical design experience.
  • Knowledge of battery storage systems.
  • Understanding of control wiring and systems.
  • Experience using Autocad, Solid Edge, Solidworks software
