Summary

 

Head coaching responsibilities include management of all facets of the men’s lacrosse program including but not limited to: coaching/teaching, recruiting, budget management, administration, scheduling of competitions, team travel, weekly practice sessions, hiring and supervision of assistant coaches/interns, community service, counseling of students, and compliance with NCAA, conference and college rules and regulations.

 

External Relations duties include the coordination, administration and management of the Athletics Department sponsored Golf Outing. Provides support to the coaching staff for department-wide Alumni Events.  Serves as liaison for collaborative efforts between Athletics and Alumni Relations.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

Head Coach – Men’s Lacrosse

 

  • Develop a program of athlete recruitment commensurate with the aims and goals of Regis College and appropriate for a member of the NCAA, Division III to support a full and vibrant lacrosse roster.
  • Plan and coordinate practice and game plans for intercollegiate competition.
  • Determine policies and procedures for team selection and athlete participation.
  • Make recommendations about game schedules and budget for the team.
  • Track the academic progress of lacrosse student-athletes and provide appropriate advice and assistance to help insure the successful completion of each player’s stated program of study.
  • Manage inventory tracking and storage of all team uniforms and equipment.
  • Effectively manage team budget ensuring balanced expenditures for equipment, travel, recruiting and other team related operating expenses.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to raise funds necessary to offset expenses associated with non-budgeted expenses. 
  • Organize community service projects for lacrosse players to complete per the mission of the NCAA, the Regis Athletic Department, and Regis College.
  • Evaluate game officials as required.
  • Evidence a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations governing lacrosse competition at the collegiate level and adhere to the rules and standards established by Regis College, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, and the NCAA (Division III).
  • Participate in Athletic Department staff meetings, trainings, functions and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Athletics

 

External Relations Coordinator

 

  • Assist coaches with the scheduling of individual sport alumni day game/activities fall, winter, and spring.
  • Coordinate registration for each event through the alumni relations office and manage the marketing of the event in conjunction with the sports information office.
  • Design, order, and distribute Alumni Day t-shirts and assist with individual celebratory days as lacrosse schedule permits.
  • Attend Open House and additional outreach events representing the Athletic Department as assigned by the Dean.
  • Coordinate golf tournament raffle donations and assist with sponsorship as designated.
  • Assist with golf tournament logistics in preparation for and on the day of the event.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

 

 

Supervisory Experience:

 

  • Select, supervise and evaluate assistant coaches/graduate intern and all support staff for the men’s lacrosse team.

 

Qualifications

Skills/Experience/Training Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • Collegiate lacrosse playing and coaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain ethical and professional boundaries with students and student-athletes.
  • Ability to positively interact with a diverse population and uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive excellence.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, and strong interpersonal skills to work with various college constituencies.
  • The ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule.
  • The ability to work well as a team member or independently.
  • Excellence in prioritizing multiple tasks with attention to detail, problem solving, and follow-through to consistently meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Strong management skills and mentoring ability for interns and assistants. 
  • Appropriate certifications in First Aid/CPR and AED are required within an appropriate time of hire and must be completed (per NCAA regulations) before the beginning of the competitive season.

 

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

 

  • This position requires the ability to lift in excess of 40 lbs and requires working on nights and weekends.
