The Mid-Atlantic Office is looking for an Individual Giving Coordinator.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Individual Giving Coordinator will help grow our (Mid-Atlantic) regional development and fundraising efforts. The Individual Giving Coordinator assists the Development Manager in all aspects of development/fundraising which include managing donation data entry; proactively researching potential new foundation and corporate partners; assisting in the writing, stewarding, and reporting of grants; supporting our Corporate Sponsored Workday Program; managing our local individual giving programs; and assisting with community events and generally increasing our fundraising capacity and success. The Individual Giving Coordinator should be very organized, and detail oriented that can easily take direction and work collaboratively within a team. The Individual Giving Coordinator will also participate in all organizational equity, inclusion, and diversity work.

 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Database Maintenance

  • Provides CRM/project management support including database management and gift entry
  • Coordinates and implement emails to donors including managing lists/campaigns and copy
  • Prepares acknowledgements for $250 and above gifts for internal signature and mailing
  • Manages donation entry and general database integrity with a great attention to detail in Salesforce

 

Direct Mail Program

  • Manages consultants to ensure budget, strategy and timeline targets are being met
  • Assists Development Manager in the reviewing and creating copy for all mailings
  • Manages approval process, obtains edits/approval from appropriate GRID Mid-Atlantic staff member
  • Provides regular direct mail updates to Development Manager
  • Establishes and implements the rules for donor lists and exports from Salesforce for mailings

 

Major Giving/We Give

  • Takes direction from Development Manager and the Executive Director on and provides oversight of GRID Mid-Atlantic’s major giving program and the We Give Circle, a giving program of women donors $2,500 and above
  • Manages and maintains all prospect lists for donor communications
  • Coordinates with Executive Assistant to help manage Executive Director’s call time; creates high-end donor call lists for Executive Director and Development Manager

 

Membership Program

  • Sets measurable goals for increasing membership gifts and attracting new donors
  • Creates strategies to highlight the Membership Program through the GRID Mid-Atlantic website, newsletter, social media, and other possible venues
  • Enhances stewardship mechanisms for current donors with the goal of increasing contributions. Researches current donors to help determine capacity for major gifts

 

Prospect Research

  • Identifies and quantifies giving capacity for new prospects and assists Development Manager in the formulation of strategies for each prospect, including major donor and planned giving prospects

 

Miscellaneous

  • Coordinate the logistics of corporate workdays and provide on-site support for corporate workdays
  • Provides support to donors, clients, prospects and other external stakeholders
  • Provides administrative support to the Development Manager including general department correspondence and coordination of internal and external communications
  • Work with the Communications Department on individual giving and fundraising campaigns and events, including marketing promotions, planning, and on-site support
  • Assist with event planning (such as Solarbration, We Build, and other supporter engagement events)
  • Performs all other tasks as directed by Development Manager

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Strong commitment to GRID’s mission and a desire to do work with a measurable impact in underserved communities

• 3+ years of recent successful nonprofit fundraising experience, or equivalent experience in a parallel field from the for-profit sector such as sales, marketing, or communications; including proposal writing, prospect research, and database management

• Ability to multi-task and exercise excellent judgement

• Excellent data management and computer skills

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences 

• Comfort soliciting businesses and individuals for monetary or in-kind support

• Ability to conduct work in a friendly and professional manner with people from diverse backgrounds; strong “customer service” skills with both internal and external stakeholders

• Strong computer skills, ideally including Salesforce, Google apps, Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Asana for task management

• Availability to work on occasional evenings and weekends

• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen

 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Experience with, passion for, and/of understanding of renewable energy, affordable housing, workforce development, the environment/environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place

• Desire for a development, marketing, or public relations career

• Experience using multi-media and social media for development and fundraising

• Attention to detail and the ability to work independently

 

Travel

This position requires some travel to sites throughout the office territory and occasional out-of-town travel such as organization-wide yearly staff summit regularly held in California. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use, but applicant must hold a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

 

The GRID Mid-Atlantic Office serves Washington, D.C., Virginia, Delaware, Maryland.

 

Compensation:

This is a full-time position, compensation commensurate with experience.
