Job Description Summary

The Public Relations Manager at Agua Caliente Casinos is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance the casino’s reputation and visibility. This role involves managing media relations, internal communications, media experiences and press opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Research and understand product attributes to write detailed press releases for all media outlets.
  • Work closely with company leaders and external agencies to design a communication strategy to positively promote all aspects of the organization.
  • Represent Agua Caliente Casinos on TV and radio promoting upcoming initiatives
  • Creatively pitch story ideas in support of property initiatives to the media to gain positive press.
  • Write, edit and coordinate press related material for mass distribution.
  • Develop strong relationships among the local community and organizations.
  • Develop a strong media contact list on which to draw upon for support on a regional level.
  • Organize press conferences, FAM trips, host property walk-throughs.
  • Work with creative team to ensure copy, tone and style is consistent with and compliments company brand, style and messaging.
  • Support top leaders of the organization with speech writing.
  • Stay abreast of competitors in the marketplace. Compile and distribute competitive press clippings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external advertising agency on copy intensive projects such as website, newsletter, guest directories, media kits etc.
  • Fields and directs responses to all media-related inquiries.
  • Oversee donation requests and properly direct non-profits to the appropriate avenues within Tribal PR to submit requests
  • Demonstrate leadership and positivity in the workplace and community
  • Works with marketing and advertising personnel to coordinate public relations activities.
  • Collaborates with internal advertising agency and property marketing department in developing strong, well-conceived communication.
  • Provides excellent guest service.
  • Mentor and develop Media and Communications Coordinator
  • Must comply with all applicable System of Internal Controls, Standard Operating Procedures and all Tribal Regulations.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications / Public Relations/Journalism is preferred and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in Public Relations.
  • Related experience in a Casino/Hospitality enterprise preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English.
  • Possess the ability to interact with multiple people/groups of all levels and to effectively communicate brand strategy.
  • Proven track record of media relations and communication initiatives
  • Established relationships with key media influencers both locally and outside of market
  • Poised and clear communicator in front of a camera and on-air
  • Ability to multi-task and meet demanding deadlines while paying attention to details.
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful situations and time constraints.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to stand, move and work throughout the office area and properties, including walking up to 1 ½ mile, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/workstation for the duration of the shift. Also, may be subjected to work in a smoke-filled environment.

Typically the individual will be housed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but will escalate when located in the casino environment. Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to: a computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone.
