Position Overview
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing human resources strategies that align with the organization's mission, goals, and values. This includes overseeing talent recruitment and retention, employee relations and training, employee compensation and benefits, employee on-boarding and off-boarding and succession planning. The Director of Human Resources also identifies and recommends HR technology solutions with current systems and works with the Director of IT/MIS to implement selected software systems for better efficiencies.
Statement of Duties
Talent Recruitment and Retention
- Oversee recruitment processes, ensuring the attraction and retention of top talent in a timely manner
- Work with supervisors to develop and/or revise accurate job descriptions as needed
- Develop and maintain a diversified network for recruiting
- Oversee development and placement of compelling job postings that accurately reflect positions and that comply with applicable labor laws
- Manage interviewing process, including initial screening of applicants, completion of interview summaries and recommendations to hiring supervisors
- Analyze turnover data to create and implement plans to improve retention
Employee Relations and Training
- Serving as a trusted advisor and resource for all employees, foster a positive work environment, addressing employee concerns and facilitating conflict resolution
- Evaluate employee concerns and take appropriate actions
- Oversee employee relations investigations, documentation, and recommended resolution, working with designated legal advisors as needed to provide expert counsel and guidance on complex employee matters
- Promote and monitor whistleblower hotline
- Develop employee recognition and engagement plan to show appreciation for employees and foster a culture of collaboration
Employee On-Boarding and Off-Boarding and Succession Planning
- Develop and implement new hire orientation
- Ensure that interim goals are set for new hires and introductory reviews are consistently implemented
- Ensure exit interviews are consistently implemented and track results for trend analysis
- Work with senior leadership to create and implement a succession plan for the organization
Employee Compensation and Benefits
- Working with Finance team, ensure effective benefits administration, including employee enrollment, retirement plans, leaves of absence, workers' compensation and unemployment claims, compliance, reporting, reconciliation
- Answer employee inquiries regarding benefits
- Negotiation of all employee benefits, including Worker's Compensation and medical/dental
- Oversee compensation structures and benefits program to attract and retain employees
HR Compliance
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations
- Ensure OSHA compliance
- Complete annual Affirmative Action plan
- Update employee handbook as needed to keep current with applicable laws and best practices
- Maintain all Human Resources record keeping including Applicant Flow, EEO-1 reporting, Affirmative Action and others
