Statement of Primary Duties

  • Provide careful and effective supervision of children's activities as assigned by the Site Director and Program Director
  • Maintain appropriate standards and rules for children's behavior. Disciplinary methods used are non-punitive, supporting children's self-esteem while teaching self-discipline
  • Work with assigned group of infants and toddlers applying best practices for infant/toddler care
  • Facilitate and nurture the development of each child's self-esteem, trust and growing autonomy
  • Facilitate program curriculum planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that enrich academic skills, linguistic abilities, cultural and recreational experiences
  • Interact positively with all parents and refer questions and concerns to the Site Director or Program Director as appropriate
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions
  • Assist Teacher with meal counts, absent slips, and sign-in/sing-out sheets
  • Complete Desire Results Developmental Profiles and Ages and Stages Questionnaires under the supervision of the Techer for a group of children as assigned by the Teacher
  • Potty train as needed
  • Perform related housekeeping duties as assigned such as sanitizing tables, sweeping and cleaning up spills

Salary: $18.85/hour

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education including core courses
  • Possession of current Associate Teacher permit to the standards of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing REQUIRED
  • Six months experience working with children in a group setting
  • Must provide a TB clearance within the last 12 months and must be retested a minimum of every two years as required by Community Care Licensing
  • Minimum of 15 hours of training in preventive health practices including pediatric CPR
  • Ability to life up to 35lbs
  • Ability to sit on floor, bend at waist, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time
  • Must show evidence of a successful Health Screening as required by Community Care Licensing on a yearly basis
