Job Title: Dance Instructor- Dance & Arts Camp

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Cultural Arts Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for the safety, education, and recreation programming for a variety of dance classes.
Work daily from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, or until campers are picked up by the approved guardian. Report to the Camp Director. Seasonal Position (8-week session). Average 35 hours a week, 7 hours per day

Responsible for the safety, education, and recreation programming for a variety of dance classes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Follow existing syllabus.
2. Attend all pre-season in service training sessions and staff meetings.
3. Communicate matters of importance with the Cultural Arts Supervisor.
4. Submit routine paperwork, such as Incident Reports, as they occur.
5. Enforce camp rules.
6. Evaluates participants’ progress and performance on a continual basis for the purpose of immediately helping the participant to improve their dance skills and confidence.
8. Effectively demonstrate and teach dance skills ranging from beginner to advanced in disciplines including, but not limited to: ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and/or hip hop.
9. Create and effectively implement lesson plans appropriate to program level and participant’s abilities.
10. Maintain accurate records including, but not limited to: attendance and progress of participants.
11. Possess ability to select and organize music and dances for annual recital and instructional classes.
12. Develop choreography for dance annual recital and instructional classes.
13. Continue education by attending staff meetings and training sessions.
14. Demonstrate ability to work independently or with limited direction; anticipate needs for success of the dance program.
15. Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, parents, and other affiliates.
16. Recognize, report, and respond to any unsafe conditions, and possible or definite hazards.
17. Performs job safely and in compliance with district policies and procedures.
18. Responsible for the safety, education, and recreation programming for the camp participant as assigned.
19. Assist with end of day duties as assigned by the Camp Dance-a-Lot/Camp ReMix Director.
20. Communicates matters of importance with the Dance & Arts Camp/Camp ReMix Director.
21. Supervise and lead group art and dance activity sessions.
22. Any other related duties assigned by the Camp Director.
OTHER DUTIES
1. Must be able to handle emergency situations as they occur.
2. Coordinate staff to direct patrons in the event of an emergency such as severe weather or fire.
3. Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals.
4. Perform additional duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:Â Â Â High School diploma or in progress
Experience: Must be 16 years of age or over, in-depth experience in dance.
                    Previous experience working with ages 6-14. Previous teaching experience.
                    Must pass an Illinois State Police Criminal background check
                    Must have current first aid and CPR certification
