Job Summary:

 

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for Paycom payroll processing, staff labor allocations, general ledger entries and reconciliations associated with labor, benefits and taxes, research regarding payroll general ledger accounts, input of key employee personal and payroll data and assistance with general Human Resources administrative activities to include by way of example running reports, maintaining the employee portal, maintaining metrics spreadsheets, etc.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

· Accurate and timely processing of payrolls through payroll system. Processes manual checks when required and reviews timecards for errors and approvals.

· Manages HRIS system.

· Process payrolls for all seasonal camp staff.

· Processes new hires, payroll changes, position changes, terminations and garnishments in Paycom.

· Enter new hires in benefit vendor sites and terminate those exiting the organization in those sites.

· Responsible for journal entries related to payroll, benefits, expense reports, vacation, taxes and 403b plan.

· Responsible for 403b audit preparation as requested by CFO.

· Maintains accurate payroll employee records regarding salary rates, benefit eligibility, and vacation accruals.

· Input payroll labor allocations and set up of information across Paycom, HR and payroll/timekeeping modules.

· Reconciles payroll related general ledger accounts monthly.

· Processes monthly bills and benefits payables of Benefit carrier invoices.

· Ensure benefit enrollments, terminations and maintenance on all benefit plans is accurate.

· Provides quality and timely communication to employees related to payroll matters.

· Creates custom reports in Paycom as requested.

· Trains new staff regarding login and use of Paycom timekeeping, time off and expense procedures.

· Works with the HR Director and Controller on key payroll, people metrics and analysis.

· Responsible for legal compliance including annual notices and surveys.

· Provides excellent customer service to internal customers and management team.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

 

· 2+ years of Payroll experience.

· Bachelor degree preferred.

· Accounting or human resources background preferred.

· Payroll certification preferred.

· Experience with Abila and Paycom is a plus.

· Maintain confidentiality of HR, Payroll and employee matters, information and records.

· Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communications skills.

· Experience and ability to interact effectively with staff and volunteers at all levels of the organization.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

· Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom her/his job puts her/him in contact

· Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends (on occasion).

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Payroll Certification preferred.
