Description

Position Purpose: 

The Digital Color Press Operator is responsible for coordinating, prioritizing, finishing, and delivering diverse print jobs in conformance with customer specifications. The position operates all related Production equipment including Bindery, Pre-Press and Press.


 


Responsibilities:

  • Sets-up job in accordance with job ticket and product specification documents. This includes pre-flighting files, making color adjustments, staging, and queuing.
  • Completes job start-up, quality sign-off, including specification and visual checks.
  • Operates digital press to produce products in conformance with customer specifications while minimizing waste and maintaining press efficiency.
  • Requisitions all supplies required to operate the digital press.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintains and troubleshoots the press and related equipment.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance program; contracting with local Xerox Service professionals as needed.

Safety:

  • Follows all safety guidelines for proper material handling, machine, and tooling use.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Reports any safety risks to supervisor.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Every team member is expected to treat all associates respectfully and professionally.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be reliable, willing, and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience with Digital Printers required.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Previous Color Press experience helpful but not mandatory.

 

Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal documents to perform job duties.
  • Effective interpersonal skills needed.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, written and oral.
  • Ability to determine “root cause” of problem and determine corrective action.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude required.
  • Computer knowledge is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work involves a variety of manual labor tasks requiring some strenuous

physical effort such as lifting objects weighing more than fifty (50) pounds.

  • Physical strength and stamina are important.
  • Occasionally, incumbents may experience highly stressful situations in the process of

resolving problems of an immediate nature for clients. 

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking during machine operation, on a solid surface, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Reaching with arms up and down, side to side; use hands and fingers to feel or handle objects up to 12 hours per day.
  • Close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception with ability to discern color and texture up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to work in a moderately loud environment.
    • Frequent exposure to machinery noise.
  • Must have ability to work in a hot or cold environment, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Must be physically able to operate and repair machines, which may involve bending, squatting, and crawling.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (Direct & Indirect)

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
