Holy Cross School serves those students residing at Gibault Children's Services for treatment, as well as community-based children through the Day Treatment program. We are currently seeking a Special Education Teacher who would be responsible for the effective academic instruction of the youth. We look for employees who are energetic and motivated to help influence a positive change in the lives of those we help. Staff are expected to serve as a positive role-model, from both a professional and personal aspect.
Special Education Teacher Performance Standards
- Keep up to date of current developments in their area(s) of instruction and in the education field in general by attending classes, workshops, or in-services.
- Prepare lesson plans and classroom materials in advance of scheduled classes and turn in weekly lesson plans to the school office the first day of the week.
- Provide client supervision in non-teaching duties and extracurricular activities as assigned by the Principal.
- Maintain an accurate, up-to-date electronic grade book regarding the progress of each student including the recording and reporting of daily attendance in a timely fashion.
- Function as an active participant of a Unit Treatment Team, providing the necessary academic background and school information on each client to help the team in planning treatment.
- Implement and maintain the school discipline policy and refer serious or repeated disciplinary problems to the appropriate chain of command.
- Serve on departmental and institutional committees assigned by the administration.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
