Summary: The Laboratory Technician Lead will follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis reporting and maintaining test results. The Laboratory Technician Lead is also responsible for keeping the laboratory in compliance with State and Federal Regulations. The Laboratory Technician Lead’s role include assisting in examination and treatment of patients, measuring vital signs and monitoring health, collecting samples, recording information on patients' charts, and preparing treatment rooms for examination.

Essential Functions:

 

A:  Job Specific
  • Perform only test for which qualified.
  • Follow the laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Maintaining records to demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in same manner as patient samples and sign the attestation statement on proficiency testing result submission forms when applicable.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies; document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follow established policies when test systems are not within acceptable levels of performance.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance.

  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from laboratory established performance specifications.
  • Training and documenting that new lab personnel are proficient in the laboratory.
  • Reviewing of patient results and send outs for inaccuracies.
  • Assigning API’s.
  • Making sure API tests are performed before the due date.
  • Making sure API results were entered correctly.
  • Initial ab Competency Training.
  • Monthly QA/PI.
  • Inventory.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Inventory at each site.
  • Make sure monthly are done.
  • Inspections if Director or Consultant is not available.
  • Weekly reports are being done at each site.
  • Making sure hand washing forms are being completed at each site.
  • Attend monthly Leadership meetings.

  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. 
  • Attend regular in-services, where required.
  • Consistently demonstrates guest relation’s skills to patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other individuals with whom they may come in contact.
  • Complies with relevant regulations, standards and policies governing safe workplace environment (OSHA, etc.).
  • Compliance: Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with standards set forth in Rise Community Hospital Code of Conduct, Rise Community Hospital policy and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable standards.
  • Employee must maintain a courteous and respectful attitude toward fellow employees, staff, contractors, vendors and the public at all times. Employee must avoid loud, profane, or unprofessional language at all times during the performance of duties. It is immediate grounds for termination if Employee engages in misconduct or is incompetent or negligent in the proper performance of duties or is disorderly, dishonest, intoxicated, or discourteous.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. 

Licenses/Certification:   None.

Experience: Minimum of two years’ work experience, in an acute care setting, as a nursing assistant, medical assistant or EMT in a supervisor capacity.
