Description

Summary: We are looking for a candidate that is positive, self-motivated, detailed oriented, and can be part of a quality staff. Highlands Market is a small specialty grocery market featuring a wide selection of goods from local suppliers, a café with prepared food and beer selections located near to the resort to better serve homeowners, resort visitors, and locals within the area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Obtains merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customer.
  • Answers customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
  • Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill.
  • Slices deli meats and products for purchase
  • Prepares and serves café menu including soups, salads and sandwiches.
  • Handles baked goods, orders and sales.
  • Serves snacks, drinks and to-go orders from the register.
  • Accepts payment and makes change.
  • Wraps or bags merchandise for customers.
  • Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.
  • Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.
  • Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise. Folds and hangs merchandise for display
  • Cleans shelves, counters, or tables. Vacuums floors.
  • Calculates sales discount to determine price.
  • Keeps record of sales, prepares inventory of stock.
  • Completes cashier balancing form at the end of day and makes deposits to the bank. Starting cash for next business day, including small bills and change should be obtained from bank.
  • Other duties assigned as necessary

Qualifications

Qualifications- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Less than high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.
  • Must be able to use American currency to make change. Must be able to use a calculator
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
