Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School is a state-wide, public (tuition-free) K-12 online charter school with a substantial number of students. Our teachers are part of an educational team whose innovative approach to education is providing a dynamic learning experience for students across the state of Pennsylvania through cyber education. Job Purpose:

Our online high school chemistry teacher's job is to deliver high-quality, engaging, relevant and accessible chemistry education to students through our online learning management systems. The role involves designing and implementing lesson plans, providing instructional content, and facilitating virtual labs and experiments. The teacher assesses student achievement, provides timely and constructive feedback, and supports individual, diverse learning needs. Additionally, they collaborate with their colleagues, actively communicate with parents, and use various digital tools to ensure students are developing a strong understanding and mastery of chemistry concepts. The goal is to foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the subject of chemistry.


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strong familiarity with and knowledge of the PA Academic Standards
  • Develop engaging online learning content
  • Demonstrate use of media and techniques live and in video recordings
  • Record original instructional videos and content for tech courses
  • Assess and provide timely feedback on student work
  • Interact with students and families through course or school-related sharing of information
  • Deliver whole-group and small-group instruction during live, synchronous virtual class sessions
  • Hold office hours daily
  • Contribute to IEP input for special education students and attend IEP meetings
  • Perform other miscellaneous professional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Department Chair, Supervisor of Curriculum, and Data Specialist
  • Proctor standardized testing.  Limited overnight travel may be required during the testing period (1-2 times per academic year)
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities

Qualifications

Education, Certification (if applicable), Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education required. 
  • Instructional I Educational Certification in Chemistry (7-12), required
  • Instructional II Educational Certification, a plus
  • Proficient technology skills: Microsoft Office, email, Google Drive, web-based data programs.
  • Not required, but a plus: Comfortable working with Canvas, Zoom, Achieve3000, EdInsight, PowerSchool, Naviance or other educational technology resources
  • Passion for utilizing educational technologies as a tool to increase student learning
  • Embrace opportunities to adapt and problem solve in a unique educational environment
  • Enthusiasm for taking on a leadership role within our school community
  • Excellent team player, including reliability in working independently
  • Must have excellent technical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to integrate technology into the curriculum and instruction
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures
  • Able to collaborate effectively with other team members

 

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

  • Physical: Normal vision, speech, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, lifting, stooping, bending, grasping, keyboarding, and filing ability
  • Mental: Positive Attitude, analyzing, problem solving, decision making, and writing.
  • Environmental: Online, office, blended school environment
  • Travel - As needed to support standardized testing and additionally as needed for positional or organizational needs.
  • Hybrid Work Eligibility - Yes - as determined by departmental parameters

All PA Leadership Charter School  applicants and employees will need to provide Pennsylvania Clearances: Act 34, 114, and 151 upon employment, as well as every five years from the date the previous clearance was obtained.
