Job Purpose:
Our online high school chemistry teacher's job is to deliver high-quality, engaging, relevant and accessible chemistry education to students through our online learning management systems. The role involves designing and implementing lesson plans, providing instructional content, and facilitating virtual labs and experiments. The teacher assesses student achievement, provides timely and constructive feedback, and supports individual, diverse learning needs. Additionally, they collaborate with their colleagues, actively communicate with parents, and use various digital tools to ensure students are developing a strong understanding and mastery of chemistry concepts. The goal is to foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the subject of chemistry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strong familiarity with and knowledge of the PA Academic Standards
- Develop engaging online learning content
- Demonstrate use of media and techniques live and in video recordings
- Record original instructional videos and content for tech courses
- Assess and provide timely feedback on student work
- Interact with students and families through course or school-related sharing of information
- Deliver whole-group and small-group instruction during live, synchronous virtual class sessions
- Hold office hours daily
- Contribute to IEP input for special education students and attend IEP meetings
- Perform other miscellaneous professional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Department Chair, Supervisor of Curriculum, and Data Specialist
- Proctor standardized testing. Limited overnight travel may be required during the testing period (1-2 times per academic year)
