Job Summary

 

This is your opportunity to lead the branding and creative vision for St. John's Community Services (SJCS) alongside the Director of Marketing and Development and Assistant Director, driving awareness, donor and client retention, and engagement through compelling storytelling and innovative campaigns. 

 

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will assist in the development of creative strategies for multi-channel marketing efforts that meet organizational goals and elevate SJCS's mission in the communities we support. 

 

This is a high deliverable, fast-paced position. Domestic travel is required.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide strategic direction for all creative, ensuring high-quality deliverables across all teams.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Development, Assistant Director, and Content Creator to align creative with overall organization strategy.
  • Take ideas from concept to implementation by collaborating with the marketing team to develop and execute compelling print and digital marketing creative that supports the organization's fundraising, awareness, and marketing efforts.
  • Responsible for printed, digital and video design including collateral for web, paid and organic social, videography, and other creative assets as needed.
  • Stay current on the latest trends in philanthropy and marketing to adapt and apply these learnings to SJCS content.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels. 
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including printers, designers, and agencies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. 
  • Experience as a versatile developer with HTML5 expertise. Familiarity with Squarespace and email development is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of industry-standard design and production software and their current capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of design principles tailored to different objectives and audiences, with the ability to create visually compelling content. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across print and digital media.
  • Self-motivated leader with strong independent work and project management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in video and photo editing, short-form video creation, graphic design, and web design.
  • Detail-oriented, with high integrity and the ability to manage confidential information
  • Effective and reliable designer willing to test new ideas
  • Strategic, innovative and creative thinker
  • Strong understanding of design 
  • Ability to work with diverse audiences and handle sensitive subjects
  • Human services and mission driven

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of professional design experience, with a portfolio of previous design work to showcase experience and creativity. 
  • Experience with CMS systems and website platforms including Squarespace, is a plus
  • Experience in providing strategic advice and problem-solving support to cross-functional teams.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. Long and extended hours and travel required.
