Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for coordination, implementation and oversight of hospital/facility Risk Management (RM) and Patient Safety program. Analyzes hospital/facility loss data and  develops appropriate loss reduction interventions. Builds and maintains relationships with hospital/facility insureds. Serves as hospital/facility expert for Marketing Department to retain and expand LAMMICO’s hospital/facility book of business. Collaborates with Marketing to develop tailored proposals and RM marketing materials for hospitals and facilities. Primary contact for responding to RM related questions and meeting needs of LAMMICO’s hospital/facility insureds.

 

Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the VP of Risk Management and VP of Business Development and Sales. 

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Works in a cooperative manner with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors; supports  LAMMICO’s mission and vision in daily operations
  • Contributes to the development of the department’s strategic and operating planning and meets assigned target dates and objectives; helps ensure that department quality, service and productivity standards are met
  • Point person for LAMMICO hospital/facility insureds for all RM and marketing related services and questions
  • Responsible for coordination, implantation, and oversight of LAMMICO’s hospital/facility RM and Patient Safety program, including:

 

    • On site assessment
    • RM consultation
    • Hospital RM premium discount program
    • LAMMICO’s Patient Safety Award
    • Live and online hospital/facility/nursing staff education activities

 

  • Serves as hospital/facility expert for Marketing Department to retain and expand LAMMICO’s hospital/facility book of business
  • Conducts review and analysis of claims for insured hospitals, and facilities and develops and implements risk reduction strategies
  • Collaborates with Marketing to develop tailored proposals and RM marketing materials for hospitals and facilities
  • Supports Marketing by attending meetings with prospective hospital/facility insureds (primarily within Louisiana and other states where LAMMICO provides coverage) to inform them about LAMMICO’s RM & Patient Safety programs and services
  • Builds relationships with insured hospital/facility staff by visiting them onsite on an ongoing basis
  • Leads  risk management team to conduct risk assessment activitie for hospitals/facilities and provides insureds with loss reduction interventions
  • Contributes to development of evidenced based live and online RM courses for healthcare providers and hospital/facility staff; serves as speaker at live education presentations and webinars
  • Serves as RM liaison to Communication Department for development of RM hospital and facility brochures, hospital newsletter, and other hospital/facility communications/publications; ensures timely submissions of content
  • Stays abreast of and informs/educates RM and other LAMMICO staff of new and emerging risks in hospitals and healthcare facilities
  • Reports to LAMMICO Committees regarding hospital/facility insureds’ risk profiles
  • Responds to RM hospital phone calls

 

Secondary Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Attends seminars and conferences as assigned

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills

 

Required:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree and Registered Nurse with current Louisiana license
  • 7-10 years of combined experience in Risk Management, quality improvement, nursing , and hospital operations
  • Experience in a hospital program or hospital process
  • Dynamic speaker who can communicate effectively with large and small audiences and hold their attention
  • Experience developing live and online educational programs
  • Experience with data analysis and measuring outcomes
  • Reliable transportation for frequent travel primarily within Louisiana and contiguous states; some overnight stay
  • Strong customer focus and team orientation
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive company information
  • Commitment to continuing industry and individual functional education
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently; ability to organize, analyze, and interpret information
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Programs

 

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in a healthcare related field
  • Associate Risk Management (ARM) and/or Certified Professional Health Risk Manager (CPHRM) and/or Certified Professional in Health Quality (CPHQ) and/or other healthcare related certification
  • Innovation and creativity in applying adult education and RM principles
