Description

Position Summary:

Responsible planning and delivering projects on time within scope/budget in accordance with business needs and priorities. Throughout the project the project manager tracks project status, manages project teams proactively mitigating project risk and issues to effective resolution.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Works in a cooperative manner with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors; seeks to support LAMMICO’s mission and vision in daily operations
  • Contributes to the development of the department’s strategic and operating plan and meets assigned target dates and objectives; helps ensure that department quality, service and productivity standards are met
  • Works with LAMMICO management, staff, and outside vendors to coordinate implementation of new systems or major system enhancements, changes to business processes and improvements, and other significant corporate initiatives.
  • Builds partnerships and business relationships related to the success of projects
  • Works with Executive Department staff to coordinate corporate strategic planning activities; monitors and reports status of strategic initiatives, and utilizes various tools to track resource investments
  • Facilitates Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) meetings  to identify and assess Enterprise Risks, and updates the ERM plan.
  • Updates top Enterprise Risk mitigations with the risk owners and reports to Executive staff quarterly
  • Serves as a liaison between LAMMICO and outside project resources; coordinates project related and on-going application support and vendor communication
  • Develops project business cases and charters to confirm project objectives, scope, deliverables, and expected target dates with each project’s Sponsor
  • Develops project schedules; identifies and manages project dependencies; estimates resources and monitors resource utilization
  • Maintains formal follow up reporting system to monitor implementation plan progress and ensures completion of assigned responsibilities
  • Reports project status to the project’s Executive Sponsor, CFO,ELT, and project stakeholders and recommends corrective action as necessary to meet project goals
  • Coordinates project test plan development, including required resources and validation of results
  • Proactively manages project expectations and changes in project scope; anticipates potential risks, identifies actual project risks, develops contingency plans, and implements remedial action
  • Facilitates required decisions and prioritization of implementation activities
  • Facilitates and documents project meetings
  • Provides post-project recommendation reports to identify successful project elements and areas for improvement
  • Creates a communication plan as an integral part of the project charter and continually communicates the status of the project to the organization
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application
  • Manages the creation, approval, and tracking of external resource project budgets
  • Acknowledges team members contributions and mitigates team conflict
  • Develops tools and best practices for project management and project execution

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading major corporate projects using Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software packages
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and tools
  • Strong customer focus and team orientation
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive company information
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Professional Certifications in Project Management (PMP, CSM, Safe5 Agilist)

Desired:

  • Insurance industry experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years related experience managing complex projects highly preferred
  • Experience managing technical project including system upgrades, enhancements and new application business development
  • Prior business analysis experience, including development and documentation of business processes and requirements, systems testing, training, and project implementation
  • Professional designations in Project Management
  • Professional certifications in Enterprise Risk Management
