Service week (days/hours):   Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm; Occasional evening or weekend work when required

Required meetings:             Monthly all-staff meetings, Regular Team & Dept. Meetings

Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is seeking a full-time Grants Manager to oversee all pre-award and post-award activities for a large, diverse portfolio of grants. The Grants Manager will prepare, craft, and submit proposals, prepare and submit grant reports, assist with preparation of project budgets, monitor expenditures and and track grant-related financial reporting, The poon works closely with the Development team, program staff, the CFO, and manages one direct report. The Grants Manager oversees grants compliance in accordance with grant agreements and terms. This position will also support organization reporting and compliance needs related to the annual financial audit and charity registration.

 

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Manage a portfolio of grants from public, private and government sources.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications and proposals. This includes grants for corporate sponsorship, build days, program support, general operating support and project support from corporations, foundations and Habitat for Humanity International.
  • Manage and build upon an affiliate-wide grant-reporting calendar based on grant research and analysis. Update database tool to track grant opportunities, applications, etc.
  • Research and qualify new prospects for grant opportunities that align with HFHP mission and programs.
  • Coordinate and follow up on progress of submitted proposals.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to grantors.
  • Monitor compliance with grant requirements and conditions. 
  • Responsible for submitting monthly statistical reporting to Habitat for Humanity International.
  • Steward major grant funders in concert with the development team, including the delivery of volunteer and communication deliverables; Maintain consistent and effective communication with funders and stakeholders.
  • Provide timely reports and updates on grants activity for management.
  • Responsible for timely monitoring of and reporting on key financial metrics.
  • Support fundraising team with monthly cash flow reporting.
  • Support Development Department with annual budget projections and grants forecasting.
  • Responsible for timely monitoring and reporting on key financial metrics with both the fundraising and finance departments.
  • Support finance department for annual financial audit for any grants reporting and other pertinent information
  • Maintain organizational compliance for reporting needs and support additional projects as needed.
  • Stay informed on current affordable housing issues, trends or best practices in grant writing and fundraising within the nonprofit sector.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supports colleagues in delivering affiliate objectives, including events and initiatives that fall outside direct responsibilities.
  • Represents affiliate at meetings, which may occur outside of normal business hours at night or on weekends and require occasional travel.
  • Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission of service to others and able to communicate the City’s affordable housing needs

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia’s vision and desire to advance our mission of affordable housing for Philadelphians.
  • Experience in building relationships, writing proposals and reporting, with a demonstrated knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the grant-writing field.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to write creatively and compellingly.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, plan, organize, and implement multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • 5+ years of office work experience in a related professional setting, experience in fundraising, grant writing and a nonprofit environment.
  • Self-motivated team player, flexible and able to work under pressure.
  • Prior management or leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work with Habitat staff from various teams to develop grant proposals and reports.
  • Creativity, flexibility, ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Attention to detail, and ability to follow-through.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Discretion with confidential information.

 

Physical Requirements to Perform Duties:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer and desk workstation
