SQL Developer, Senior

The Senior SQL Developer is responsible for database and query design for custom MSSQL applications ensuring stability, reliability and performance on platforms that span multiple modules and environments. 

This is a Hybrid position and you must be able to work in the office a minimum of 2 days a week. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Successful candidate will perform a combination of the functions shown below, plus other duties as assigned.

• Primary responsibility is creating and refactoring MSSQL code and data structures.
• Recommend and develop data strategies to address industry requirements and business needs
• Analyze expensive queries, deadlocks and/or bottlenecks and remediate accordingly
• Approve DB Pull Requests and make recommendations for performance and standards adherence
• Update SQL development standards according to issue and remediations found/applied.
• Leverage modern software development and DevSecOps tools and processes to automate repetitive tasks
• Provide support for database activities in Azure and AWS
• Support DBA team in developing meaningful cloud metrics and reporting

• Mentor teammates through education and support

Essential Duties:

• Develop, design SQL Database architecture and code; primarily MSSQL.
• Assist DB and DEV teams in improving performance of existing SQL code and architecture

Skills:

• Expert: current/recent MSSQL Server Versions
• Expert: analyzing and troubleshooting SQL performance
• Expert: writing and troubleshooting/refactoring store procedures, functions, views, indexes, etc.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps and GIT development
• Ability to function as a team player and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to develop technical specifications and interpret business requirements
• Capable of managing and working on multiple projects and tasks
• Ability to automate processes and manage priorities effectively to achieve optimal results
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree o
• A combination of experience and education

Certification(s), Licenses:

• Relevant Microsoft or similar certifications related to MSSQL and/or database development and management.

Years of experience in a similar role:

Required:

• Ten years of MSSQL Experience
• Ten years of Software Experience
• Five years of MSSQL Development
• Five years of working with MSSQL as the backend for an enterprise-level application
• Above in a medical or adjacent industry; especially electronic health records.

Desired:

• Above in a medical or adjacent industry; especially electronic health records.
