The Assistant Director of The Sage Center for Global Education and Inclusion will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision and leading the implementation of the School’s global and experiential education initiatives. Working closely with the Sage Center Director, this position will oversee the Spring at Sage program, managing both international and domestic travel experiences and local seminars that enrich student learning and global engagement. In addition to advancing these programs, the Assistant Director will drive key diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that align with the school’s broader strategic goals, fostering an environment where all students and faculty thrive. The Assistant Director will also maintain a presence in the classroom by teaching 2 sections.
Essential duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Program Development & Coordination:
- Lead and continue to develop an innovative and dynamic Spring at Sage program that is mission aligned.
- Serve as a key liaison between the Sage Center and faculty, students, and parents, ensuring clear communication, managing expectations, and garnering enthusiasm around the Spring at Sage program.
- Manage the complete development and facilitation of 12 or more trips annually, including end-to-end supervision, identifying potential destinations, ensuring alignment with educational goals, implementing safety standards, application selections, admissions, marketing, curriculum development, day to day programming, and personnel oversight.
- In collaboration with faculty, oversee the planning and delivery of 25 or more local seminars, integrating experiential learning opportunities that promote our 6 Cs.
- Ensure all programs adhere to risk management protocols developed in partnership with the business office and school nurse. Implement protocols into the logistical planning, chaperone training and all student safety considerations on location.
- Work in partnership with the business office to manage program budgets and pricing, ensuring responsible use of resources.
- Actively engage students and faculty/staff in all stages of the Spring at Sage process, from program selection and preparation to post-experience reflection, assessment and debrief.
- Provide guidance, expectations, and support to students participating in Spring at Sage, helping them navigate cultural adaptation, personal growth, and Handbook compliance.
- Serve as the primary liaison to lead chaperones and travel partners during Spring at Sage, remaining on-call and headquartered on campus, to ensure smooth communication and support throughout the program.
- Collect and analyze program data, including student feedback, participation rates, and learning outcomes, to assess the impact of Spring at Sage.
- In coordination with the Assistant Head of School for Academics, oversee and implement the Field Trip request process.
- All other duties as assigned by the Sage Center Director.
Travel Partner Management
- Maintain regular communication with our travel partners to ensure alignment with program goals, timelines, and standards. Monitor performance and delivery.
- Develop and implement a standardized vetting process to evaluate travel partners and their selected guides for trips, ensuring they meet the school’s educational objectives, safety protocols, and DEI standards.
- Participate in scouting trips with travel partners to less-traveled destinations in order to assess logistics and best-practices before finalizing program itineraries.
Professional Development & DEI
- Stay informed about global education trends and bring innovative ideas to enhance the school’s experiential learning opportunities.
- In partnership with the Sage Center Director, facilitate professional development for all faculty and staff around anti-racist and culturally-responsive pedagogy.
- In partnership with the Sage Center Director, develop and oversee programming and initiatives for students that elevate our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- All other duties as assigned by the Sage Center Director.
Classroom Teaching & Advising
- Serve in the Advisory Program as an advisor.
- Participate in the Service Learning program as a Service Learning advisor.
- Teach two sections (grades 7-12) and maintain a presence in the classroom.
