Bank of Washington is growing and in need of a Commercial Lender/Business Development employee to develop and support the deposit and lending activities of the bank. The ideal candidate will possess prior commercial lending experience, a strong credit/risk management background, a record of successful business development, a desire for continued professional development, and strong teamwork and communication skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Identifies, engages, and develops new customer relationships for both deposit and lending opportunities.
- Builds relationships with customers and learns their businesses, while educating them on the bank’s offerings to help meet their financial needs and offering flexible and competitive financial solutions including deposit accounts, cash management services, business loans, lines of credit, SBA loans, and other business products, while working within the prescribed framework of bank policies and procedures.
- Sets measurable goals for growth, including both loan and deposit opportunities.
- Works closely and collaborates with multiple teams across the bank to ensure a great customer experience from onboarding through relationship management.
- Gathers the vital business, financial, and personal background information from potential borrowers.
- Reviews loan requests, credit history, and financial statements to perform a detailed analysis to determine whether proposed applications meet lending criteria.
- Collaborates with the credit department to prepare proposed credit memos, including recommendations for loan pricing and terms, and receive concurrence from the credit approving officer/s prior to proceeding with in-depth client negotiations.
- Monitors loan portfolio, communicating directly with borrowers, to ensure that all required financial exhibit due dates are monitored and received from customers in a timely manner.
- Maintains the credit quality of their individual portfolio within bank standards and guidelines; promptly surfaces all risk issues uncovered over the course of managing the portfolio.
- Actively participates in the local and business community at large, serving as a visible representative of the Bank, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to the community and its mission to do good.
Preferred Education, Experience, Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Commercial Lending: (Preferred)
- Outside Sales: (Preferred)
- Financial Services: (Preferred)
