SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Paralegal is responsible for providing the Board and senior management with practical advice on strategies and their implementation, managing the legal functions of Comanche Nation Entertainment (CNE), serving as legal advisor on all significant business transactions, updating senior management on regulatory concerns, and overseeing work of outside counsel. The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services, including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact-checking; and trial preparation. The Paralegal's performance has a direct effect on all employees of Comanche Nation Entertainment. Casinos need to reach their full potential in providing a superior entertainment experience for casino guests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are significant duties and are not intended to be all-inclusive or restrictive.
- Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Drafts legal documents, including tort claims, affidavits, interrogatories, contracts, terminations, severances, and sexual harassment claims; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
- Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves files, including exhibits, and other items.
- Assists attorneys with preparation, which may include attending trials and meetings in person.
- Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO.
