Job Summary:

The Regulatory Compliance Paralegal supports the General Counsel in all regulatory compliance groups, including completing and maintaining facility and agency licensure applications and updates, credentialing applications with outside third party payors, and responding to nursing and administrator licensure enforcement and regulatory compliance matters. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of paralegal experience in healthcare regulatory and licensure compliance, with specific expertise in provider enrollment and credentialing a plus.
  • Notary a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles required.
  • Must have extensive experience in supporting healthcare operations, including contract review and negotiation.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of federal and state healthcare regulatory requirements, including government healthcare programs, PECOS, TULIP, HIPAA/HITECH and other privacy and security laws, and fraud and abuse laws, in addition to a broad general background in regulatory requirements applicable to the healthcare industry.
  • Must have excellent judgment and communication skills
  • Must be able to manage a varied and high-volume workload, including legally sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team orientated fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
  • Possess sound judgment in decision making and prioritization of multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient communication skills both verbal and written

Essential Functions:

  • Manage license renewal and contract renewal for all facilities, agencies and branches.
  • Manage third party payor credentialing matters for all facilities, agencies, and branches.
  • Maintains project/case files to track and monitor all legal projects.
  • Keeps the General Counsel and Legal Services Department informed on status of relevant legal and compliance matters.
  • Organizes and indexes complex regulatory and licensure files, employment agreements and corporate governance documents using electronic document management system.
  • Conduct legal research, investigating facts, and independently prepare related memorandums.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, chronologies, and file summaries for internal decision making and contract management.
  • Determines and calendars deadlines to help manage licensure registrations, state corporate filings, contractual covenants and related matters.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assists with various clerical duties required to support Legal departmental needs and functions

Continuing Education:

  • Attends in-service and continuing education programs required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure.
  • Attends continuing education programs as necessary.
