Tufts V.E.T.S. is a multispecialty emergency and critical care VECCS level 1 certified facility in New England. POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Laboratory Veterinary Technician at Tufts VETS, you will be an integral part of our veterinary team, specializing in providing timely and accurate diagnostic support in a fast-paced emergency and specialty setting. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes, assisting veterinarians in diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions in animals.
In this role, you will sample collection and essential laboratory tests, handle sample collection and processing, and maintain laboratory equipment. Your attention to detail and commitment to high-quality care will ensure that our patients receive the best possible treatment. You will collaborate closely with veterinary teams, contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to animal health.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a solid understanding of veterinary laboratory procedures, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. POSITION RESPONSIBILITITES
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and technology.
- Strong venipuncture skills in small animals, various sizes & ages.
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including hematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, and cytology.
- Collect and process samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, ensuring it is properly calibrated and functioning.
- Interpret laboratory results and assist veterinarians in making informed diagnostic and treatment decisions.
- Ensure the laboratory is clean, organized, and compliant with all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results.
- Oversee inventory management of all laboratory supplies.
- Assist in training new team members and veterinary students.
- Collaborate effectively with veterinary staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in continuous education to stay updated with advancements in veterinary laboratory practices.
- Meet with supervisor and Clinical Services Manager regularly to review any concerns or issues.

SCHEDULE
Fulltime commitment. Shifts TBD. Includes weekend and holiday coverage as needed by the service. Schedule subject to change at management’s discretion to meet the needs of the laboratory service. This position is considered essential and is therefore required to work as scheduled during inclement weather (i.e., during snowstorms).
Compensation: Is based on education, experience, credentials, and skill level.
