Description

Dixie Chemical is seeking a proactive and strategically minded Product Manager to lead the commercialization and lifecycle management of our specialty chemical products. This cross-functional role sits at the intersection of technical innovation, regulatory compliance, and commercial execution—ensuring that our portfolio continues to meet evolving customer needs while driving profitable growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

Product Commercialization & Lifecycle Management

  • Lead commercialization of new products and enhancements to existing ones, coordinating with Sales, R&D, Quality Control, and Operations.
  • Support development of product specifications, technical data sheets (TDS), safety data sheets (SDS), white papers, and other technical documentation.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to assess feasibility, cost structure, production optimization, and scalability of new and existing products.
  • Monitor performance across the product lifecycle, recommending adjustments to improve value and profitability.

Cross-Functional Business Support & Operational Insight

  • Serve as a central point of coordination between Sales, Marketing, Operations, Technical Services and Customer Relations.
  • Develop a working knowledge of business operations that influence profitability, such as raw material costs, production efficiency, inventory levels, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to evaluate order patterns, inventory turnover, freight costs, and terminal operations to optimize performance.

Market Intelligence & Strategic Insight

  • Track and report on monthly product performance, pricing trends, and volume metrics to senior management.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis and competitive benchmarking to identify risks and growth opportunities.
  • Assist in forecasting future product sales performance and provide strategic recommendations to protect and expand market share.
  • Develop and execute product strategies and action plans that align with business objectives.

Customer Support & Commercial Enablement

  • Own and drive resolution of customer inquiries related to vendor/supplier documentation, product quality, regulatory questions, or technical needs.
  • Act as the internal advocate for customer satisfaction, coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely and effective support.
  • Recommend solutions to retain business, grow customer accounts, and support long-term partnerships.

Marketing & Sales Collaboration

  • Partner with the Marketing team to create product-specific messaging, launch campaigns, and promotional materials.
  • Support go-to-market plans, digital marketing content, and sales enablement tools for targeted product lines.
  • Participate in the development of pricing strategies and value propositions.

Regulatory & Compliance Management

  • Oversee and maintain global product registrations, including TSCA, REACH, DSL, EPA, and others.
  • Stay up to date on evolving regulations and issue compliance documentation or regulatory statements as required.
  • Serve as liaison between regulatory bodies, customers, and internal departments to manage product compliance efficiently.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the chemical industry, ideally in product management, technical marketing, or business operations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect technical details to commercial strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects and commercializing new products.
  • Working knowledge of chemical manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, data analysis, and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of chemical products, formulations and their applications
  • Demonstrated ability to sell technical products and provide high-level technical consultation to customers.
  • Must have the ability to challenge the status quo, think differently, and have the ability to build relationships with customers at all levels of the organization.
  • Very fast-paced work environment. Able to quickly prioritize and reprioritize initiatives so that dynamic organizational and customer needs are met.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Work Environment

  • Travel is required to meet with customers, provide technical presentations, and attend industry conferences.
