We are seeking a talented engineer to contribute to the design and development of Carnegie Learning's latest proprietary Learning Object Repository. As a Senior Engineer, you will collaborate with a team of engineers to design and develop key services, ensuring the solutions are implemented to the highest quality standards.

While this position is remote and does not require in-office hours, we are seeking candidates who are based in St. John's, Newfoundland or the surrounding area.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Design, develop, and test software projects from start to finish.
- Ensure that the development and test teams are creating the right solutions, for the highest priority problems.
- Collaborate with architects and other engineers to design, develop and maintain the services.
- Advocate for clean code and proactively address security, technical debt, maintainability, and performance through design and code reviews, automated testing, and other industry best practices.
- Promote and implement best engineering practices within an Agile development environment.
- Deliver working functionality to stakeholders through hands-on development.
What Should Be In Your Backpack
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a progression of increasing scope and complexity of work
- Expertise in web application design, microservices architecture, and API/system integrations
- Experience in NodeJS, TypeScript, Angular, MongoDB, MySQL, AWS
- Experience and technical adeptness in object-oriented architecture, design, and implementation
- Strong software design skills with the ability to deep dive into the algorithms, code, and processes that your team owns and develops
- Proven technical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in agile methodologies
- Experience in a multi-product, multi-application development environment
- Drive for continuous improvement
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback amongst peers
- Experience in Education Technologies like LTI 1.3/Advantage and Thin Common Cartridge, preferred
- Experience in FeathersJS, Algolia, preferred
