Job Summary
This is skilled craft work that performs installation, operation, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of electrical systems for the Jacksonville Aviation Authority. The work requires journeyman level knowledge of the applicable codes, techniques, methods, and procedures used to provide services in the installation, operation, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of electrical systems, including electrical switch gear, breakers, busways, and motor control panels; electrical systems in all facilities, buildings, external grounds, equipment; and all related services and systems. Uses and maintains various types of electrical and electronic equipment. The work is semi-routine in that tasks are covered by somewhat diversified procedures and precedents, but some latitude is permitted to consider the most appropriate method, technique, or procedure to follow. The work involves differing situations requiring use of judgment in searching for solutions or new applications. The work is performed primarily outdoors where there are some risks and hazards, but they are generally known, predictable, and controllable. Operates a computer and hand tools associated with the repair and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment. Operates motor vehicles and high-lift equipment/vehicles. Work is reviewed upon completion for technical accuracy and compliance with instruction or established procedures. Develops regular contact with individuals in other work groups or external vendors to obtain, clarify or give fact or information. Position may require emergency call-in requirements 24-hours a day, 7-days per week based on airport emergency electrical requirements.
