Position Objective:
The Accountant is responsible for input, reconciliation, and review of various accounting activities as they pertain to the organization’s Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable. The objective is to ensure the accurate payment of wages, collection of bills, financial accounting, and reporting in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision, culture code and standards of conduct.
General Qualifications:
The Accountant is a Ministerial-Support position. Ministerial-Support staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. It is desired that staff who fill these roles are followers of Jesus Christ and embrace MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Key Job Accountabilities:
- Prepare reconciliations of bank and GL accounts, including month and year end journal entries.
- Assist in annual budgeting and audit preparation.
- Ensure successful completion of weekly Accounts Payable processing, including regular review of data entry and processing weekly and monthly ACH payments.
- Interact with multiple software applications to transfer data into the accounting system.
- Process incoming credit cards, cash and checks for deposit.
- Reconcile cash deposits to vaults and bank.
- Periodic review of regular and supplemental payroll processing. Backup payroll specialist.
- Additional contact with Payroll provider (ie Paycom.)
- Maintain and review annual payroll reports.
- Maintain employee rent receivable accounts.
- Interact with staff to communicate accounting procedures and processes and offer assistance as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
