Position Objective:
Staff Counselors are responsible to support the emotional, personal, and spiritual well-being of Summer Staff (“SS”), by overseeing staff community living in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.
General Qualifications:
The Staff Counselor is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Model a genuine Christian lifestyle, encouraging and nurturing SS to serve in a selfless manner to all departments.
- Organize, facilitate, and communicate social and recreational events for SS building community through healthy interactions.
- Pastoral support and disciple SS from your floor
- Develop and foster relationships with SS on your floor
- Enforce community standards to ensure a harmonious living environment.
- Assist in departments as opportunities arise, working alongside SS to facilitate high performance in each area of assignment.
- Coordinate with all Staff Counselors, under the leadership of the Chief of Staff, specific staff development assignments to encourage community growth and discipleship
- Organize, coordinate, and supervise custodial support for dorms ensuring a clean living environment.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
