JOB SUMMARY:  The Vice President of Government Sales (VPGS) is crucial in driving the overall sales strategy and revenue generation for the organization.  They oversee sales, marketing, and business development efforts, aligning them with the company’s goals and objectives.  The VPGS plays a key role in identifying new market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and optimizing customer engagement contributing to business growth, market expansion, and long-term profitability. This leadership role will also be charged with driving outstanding customer service and inside sales efforts that positively impact our corporate bottom line and mission to employ the blind.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leads the strategic execution of day-to-day sales and business development efforts for business development opportunities at IBVI. 
  2. Collaborates with executive team to develop a 3-year rolling revenue plan, annual sales operating expense plan, in conjunction with the annual business planning process.
  3. Designs and implements ambitious monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals, and inspires the team to attain these targets.
  4. Understands current and future brand directions and develops sales and BD plans, strategies and solutions that align to and support them.
  5. Proactively integrates teams in the development and execution of IBVI sales opportunities and ensures the needs of all stakeholders.
  6. Evaluates and develops new sales and BD opportunities to consistently meet or exceed sales targets and goals.
  7. Attracts, retains, and develops a unified team that delivers exceptional service to internal and external customers positively impacting overall business results.
  8. Develops a data driven mindset across the organization to inform all revenue decisions, to implement new marketplace strategies.
  9. Ensures delivery of effective communications and training for sales and BD initiatives.
  10. Develops and oversees an annual budget and monitoring of profit and loss statements ensuring goals and targets are met. 
  11. Oversees E-Commerce, Marketing and Customer Service teams and ensures implementation of business line promotions that are on schedule and adhere to brand standards and best practices.
  12. Ensures the customer experience is constantly evolving to meet their needs and that business opportunities are aligned with core capabilities and priorities.
  13. Manages the maintenance of sales and BD Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and processes that ensure legal and/or financial compliance and lead the development of new content as appropriate.
  14. Works closely with corporate contracting personnel to ensure all government contracts and agreements, BPA’s, IDIQ’s and other specific agreements are executed and in compliance with government and FAR regulations.
  15. Builds and cultivates strong external relationships with government and commercial contacts, sister agencies, NIB, and U.S. AbilityOne Commission, to grow business and mission initiatives.
  16. Coordinates and leads BD team meetings.
  17. Supports the AbilityOne mission ensuring our sales and contracts meet required blind labor requirements and ratios.
  18. Assists in the development, implementation and analysis of omni-channel marketing programs, strategies, and activities that support achievement of sales and profit objectives.
  19. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in sales and sales management.
  • At least 5 years of people management experience.
  • Previous experience successfully building, scaling, and leading high-performing sales teams.
  • Strong experience in consultative sales and possesses the ability to prospect and manage senior-level relationships.
  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of government contracts and programs.
  • Proven ability to develop effective strategies and lead their execution.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Understanding of Government Procurement and how it relates to the (FAR) Federal Acquisition Requirements. AbilityOne knowledge is a plus.
  • Understanding of the AbilityOne Procurement List Addition Process.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop, mentor, and lead a sales and BD team.
  • Highly collaborative with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to be hands-on.
  • Extremely organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to effectively oversee and manage multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment; adapts quickly to change.

  • Travel up to 60-70%
  • Ability to be at the West Allis headquarter location on a regular basis (30%-40% of the time)
  • Light to moderate noise levels
  • Moderate to low light levels
