Position Summary:

Truck drivers are responsible for transporting loads from one location to another, verifying material weight, cooperating with other equipment operators, keeping the truck clean and in good condition, and delivering materials in a timely manner.

 

Essential job functions:

  • Drive and operate trucks.
  • Keeping truck clean and in safe, working condition.
  • Comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times.
  • Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Transport gravel to and from work areas.
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
  • Document and track all delivery invoices.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations with size, weight, and route destinations.
  • Maintain and service vehicles as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressures, repairs, etc.)
  • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions.
  • Reports defects, accidents, or violations immediately.
  • Maintain in frequent communication with supervisors.
  • Commits to long hours of when necessary to reach goals.
  • Uses equipment and materials properly and safely.
  • Ensure contents are property secured in a truck to prevent damage or injury.
  • Check weather conditions and road reports prior to departure.
  • Notify manages of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
  • Track and report working hours.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Non-essential Job Functions:

May attend professional meetings or pertinent workshops.  

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and be able to meet the minimum insurance requirements of the Quapaw Nation’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
  • Understanding of job site safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Knowledge on how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.
  • Knowledge of map reading and route planning.
  • Ability to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles.
  • Proficient at using GPS and other routing systems.

 

Education & Experience:

High school or GED equivalent. Two or more years of experience in commercial truck driving is preferred.

 

Physical Abilities:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. at one time.
  • Comfortable with long-haul transports.
  • Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts.

 

Working Conditions:

Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions in a fast-paced environment. Long hours and some heavy lifting are required.
