Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. As we continue to scale our operations across multiple states, this role offers significant opportunity for growth and impact. The position reports directly to the Controller and plays a key role in supporting our people-first culture through accurate and timely financial operations.

 

Qualifications

Core Functions

  • Payroll Management (40%)

  • Accounts Payable (40%)

  • Financial Operations Support (20%)

Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Own and direct payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations for multiple states, and maintaining accurate payroll records

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, generate reports, prepare journal entries, reconcile tax reports, and manage multi-state tax compliance

  • Calculate compensation including overtime, deductions, and bonuses using modern payroll systems

  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations through strict confidentiality protocols

  • Process taxes and employee benefits payments

  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries

  • Manage new hire payroll setup and documentation across multiple states

Accounts Payable & Financial Operations:

  • Lead weekly timesheet processing, downloading data from project management software and ensuring accurate upload to accounting system

  • Analyze and process accounts payable, including invoices, vouchers, and expense reports

  • Administer vendor relationships (you’ll collaborate with G&A’s Director of Media Production and G&A’s SVP / Strategic Partnerships)  and resolve invoice processing issues

  • Prepare check requests, wire transfers, and ACH transactions

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations

  • File and maintain required tax forms (1099s, W-2s, etc.)

  • Support broader finance team initiatives and process improvements

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in accounting/finance operations

  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing

  • Strong systems aptitude and demonstrated commitment to data accuracy

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred (or equivalent experience)

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets proficiency

  • Experience with modern payroll/accounting systems (Paycom and/or Namely experience a plus)

  • Knowledge of accounting/payroll compliance and best practices

  • Proficiency in financial data analysis and reporting
