The Role:
As a Tanker Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous materials in liquid bulk tankers. Primary duties will include loading, transporting, and unloading materials at various locations while ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. Drivers can expect regional routes, home weekly with overnight routes as needed. Your responsibilities will include:
- Safely drives and operates trucks in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Follows all company and government-mandated safety regulations and policies.
- Completes all pre- and post-trip inspections in accordance with USDOT regulations and company policies. Utilizes electronic logging devices (ELD) to maintain hours of service logs in accordance with USDOT regulations.
- Must wear PPE including, but not limited to, masks, gloves, chemical suits, boot coverings, eye, ear, and face protection, as required.
- Follows appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP) for filling and discharging materials.
- Couples or uncouples trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks. Cranks trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.
- Checks all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Reads bills of lading (BOL) to determine assignment details. Collects delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
- Performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs or tire chains.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
