Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure compliance with existing, new, and revised laws and regulations while tracking, monitoring, analyzing, and assisting with implementing regulatory changes that impact mortgage operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee a significant regulatory compliance function and be responsible for ensuring the appropriate level of compliance commensurate with UHM risk appetite.
  • Ensures the company is compliant with assigned federal, state, and investor regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage shared projects with junior staff and ensure staff’s clarity on objectives and timely completion of work.
  • Timely implementation of corrective action measures.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operational, financial, legal, and regulatory risk

Qualifications

  • Change management

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Analytical skills regarding research into federal and state laws and operational problems.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience
  • 7+ years of mortgage banking experience (Underwriting, processing, closing, loan origination, servicing, compliance, and/or audit, etc.)
  • Experience working within a compliance program in mortgage banking is strongly preferred
  • State and CFPB (desirable) exam experience
  • Knowledge of Encompass preferred
  • Strong understanding of the federal and state mortgage lending and servicing laws.
