THE ROLE

Gotham Greens is seeking a regional Production Planner to join our team.  This role supports all assigned greenhouses in planning production of Produce finished goods and managing third party manufacturers in production of Value-Added products. The regional Production Planner plays an important cross-functional role in the company by working with the Growing, Operations, and Sales Teams.  The primary responsibilities of the Production Planner are to translate crop harvest schedules into finite daily finished goods work orders; to monitor sales forecasts, new business, and promotions as they relate to customer fulfilment; to coordinate with Customer Service and Logistics teams to maximize fill rate; and to control and report on drivers of bottom line spend impacted by Production Planning.

 

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Generate daily production plans for assigned greenhouses
    • Monitor yield forecast and harvest plans (generated by Crop Schedulers)
    • Generate production plans for all greenhouses with goal of maintaining safety stock and fulfilling all open orders
    • Generate production plans for third party manufacturers
    • Maintain a finite 10-business-day horizon of Produce planning, updated daily with refreshed forecasts and orders
    • Know full life cycle and utilization – report production, spoilage, and scrap
  • Maintain communication with Sales
    • Monitor sales forecasts and open orders (generated by Demand Planner)
    • Monitor promotional schedules and new Sales business updates
    • Communicate clearly and promptly with Sales when anticipating impact on customer fulfillment
    • Collaborate with Demand Planning and Commercialization to manage timelines against customer and product expansions (existing and new)
  • Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) cycle
    • Collaborate with Demand Planning and Crop Schedulers to translate customer demand into a seeding layout on a monthly cadence
    • Generate data summaries and slide decks to report on the trailing and projected performance of assigned regions
    • Optimize production plans to maximize revenue potential and minimize spend (e.g. direct labor, transportation cost)
    • Monitor and report on transportation cost and other costs impacted by Planning

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • College graduate in a relevant field (Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent)
  • 5 years of relevant supply planning and/or master scheduling experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive at work under minimal supervision/direction
