Summary

Trust Women is a non-profit organization dedicated to reproductive justice and access to abortion care. The Director of Development will lead, strategize, and manage the organization's fundraising and development efforts to support short- and long-term objectives. This is a critical leadership role that requires a visionary professional to expand and diversify the funding base, foster a culture of philanthropy, and drive revenue growth.

The Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive development strategy, oversee its implementation, and position Trust Women to maximize impact and outreach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement a strategic development plan in collaboration with the Executive Director to meet and exceed annual and long-term fundraising goals. o Design multi-faceted fundraising strategies to include major gifts, planned giving, grants, and grassroots campaigns.
  • Build a culture of philanthropy across the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and refine the organization's development infrastructure, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Ensure alignment of fundraising initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.

Fundraising Operations

  • Identify and cultivate new funding sources, focusing on both restricted and unrestricted revenue streams.
  • Manage all aspects of grant writing, proposals, and donor stewardship activities.
  • Create and implement innovative campaigns, appeals, and donor recognition programs.
  • Oversee the development and execution of a Capital Campaign to support clinic 
  • expansion.
  • Leverage technology and data analysis to drive donor insights and improve outcomes.
  • Engage with Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors to provide updates on 
  • fundraising initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and nurture relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation 
  • representatives.
  • Engage the Board of Directors in fundraising activities through training, strategy sessions, 
  • and goal setting.
  • Represent Trust Women at local and national events to promote the mission and attract 
  • new supporters.
  • Develop partnerships with community leaders, peer organizations, and advocacy groups 
  • to broaden support.
  • Create personalized outreach strategies for high-net-worth individuals and legacy donors.

Team and Performance Management

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing development team.
  • Set clear performance goals, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Establish department policies and procedures to ensure accountability and consistency.
  • Encourage professional growth through training, conferences, and other opportunities.
  • Promote a collaborative and positive team culture aligned with organizational values.

Events and Outreach

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute high-impact fundraising events across various regions.
  • Partner with external vendors and internal teams to ensure event success.
  • Develop sponsorship opportunities and packages to maximize revenue from events.
  • Ensure events align with organizational branding and values.
  • Evaluate the success of events and incorporate feedback to improve future efforts.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Provide detailed, regular reports on fundraising activities and progress to leadership and 
  • the Board.
  • Monitor and analyze key metrics to assess the effectiveness of development efforts.
  • Develop and present data-driven recommendations for strategic adjustments.
  • Maintain compliance with all legal, financial, and organizational reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with finance staff to align revenue tracking and reporting.
     

Qualifications

Qualifications:


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in fundraising, including significant individual and foundation 
  • giving.
  • 3 years of leadership and team management experience in a nonprofit 
  • environment.
  • Proven success in planning and executing capital campaigns.
  • Familiarity with EveryAction or similar donor management systems.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Knowledge of compliance standards for nonprofit fundraising and reporting.
